This was a nice quick stop for a National Park. We didn’t have a lot of time, but this is right off I40 and close to that nights campground. Though you can spend plenty of time here hiking; it is perfect park for those who enjoy driving tours. It raises about 45 minutes to tour the road off the park plus whatever stops you take for sure seeing.
The Painted Desert part with the colors and rock formations were fascinating as you felt like you should be on Mars.
The remains of petrified ancient trees took the spotlight for us though. They looked like stone and colored glass. Some edges that had broken were sharp as knives.
