The Washington DC Cherry Blossom Festival took place on March 29-30, 2025. My daughter and I decided to brave the crowds and venture into the heart of it all. This was something I’ve wanted to do for a few years now, but must say I didn’t know what we were getting ourselves into. I knew it would be busy, but I didn’t realize how busy. I had no idea that thousands of people would make their way here from all over the world for this festival. Washington DC is an amazing place already, but seeing it covered in flowers was beautiful. If this is a trip you have been thinking about, it is worth it, even just once to say you experienced The Washington DC Cherry Blossom Festival.

On Saturday we left the main festival area to go see The Capital and The Library of Congress. My daughter and I are big bookies, and that has been on my bucket list.
We also wandered through the gardens around the Smithsonian Castle and The US Botanical Gardens. Where we discovered more in bloom than just the Cherry Blossoms. The Disc Magnolias were in their full beauty as well scattered around DC.
Then we walked down the National Mall as the crowds gathered for the Cherry Blossom Kite Festival.
We made our way to the Korean War and Vietnam War Memorials to finish off our day. After over 12 miles of walking our feet were giving out, and we made our way to the Metro and back to our hotel.
Sunday would be the day of Memorials and Cherry Blossoms. We started the day at Ford’s Theater where Republican President Abraham Lincoln was shot. Walked down Pennsylvania Avenue to see the White House and the World War 1 Memorial.
From there we hit the National Mall again for a walk to the Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Thomas Jefferson, and Roosevelt Memorials around the waterfront where the majority of the Cherry Blossom trees surrounded the water.
After over 8 miles and evening falling we made our way back to the hotel again. Tired and hungry we dragged a box of pizza a few blocks to our hotel and plopped in bed to chow down. Mariah didn’t think we could eat a whole large pizza on our own. She proved herself wrong.
I finish this off with more Cherry Blossom photos from around DC during our trip.

I hoped you enjoyed!
